Pierre Boulez’s Mahler cycle, which started with his recording of the Sixth Symphony in 1994, reached its completion in 2013 with the release of Des Knaben Wunderhorn with the Cleveland Orchestra. This set features some of the world’s top orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic and Staatskapelle Berlin, across all of Mahler’s symphonies and symphonic song cycles. Without a doubt, this has been one of the greatest recording projects of its time — with two of the symphony recordings receiving Grammy® Awards.
