“This vintage performance serves as a reminder that a great maestro’s skill set must be all-encompassing. Pacing matters; so do architectonics, texture, that all-important unerring ear. And in a context like this one, perfume, to be applied with the most sensitive of hands.” — Pundicity

In this historic release from the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Italian conductor Riccardo Muti leads acclaimed soloists in landmark concertos for their instrument. In Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez — a rarity in Muti’s discography — guitarist Alirio Díaz dazzles audiences with the sounds of Spain. Sviatoslav Richter takes to the keys for the latter portion of the album, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
